Giant billboard of Bawumia’s tax tweet in 2015 mounted on the street of Accra

A massive billboard has been erected near Kwame Nkrumah Circle features a tweet about taxes from Bawumia, the running mate for the opposition at the time.

The tweet, which was post on December 2, 2015, stated: “The NDC has increased taxes as a result of the economic challenges they caused. An NPP government will act in a distinct manner.

A year after the tweet, Bawumia’s principal, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won the 2016 elections and the duo were sworn into office in January 2017.
.

When the initial signs surrounding Accra’s Danquah Circle were taken down in late November 2023, most people on social media accused the government of being involved.

Having been chosen as the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bawumia is currently vying to become president of Ghana.

In the 2024 election, he will compete against the NDC flagbearer, former president John Dramani Mahama, and other candidates.
