LMVCA in Supreme Court over protest injunction

The leadership of pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance, has served notice it will proceed to the Supreme Court to seek interpretation on the Circuit Court injunction that cancelled their protest march which was scheduled for today, Tuesday September 29.

The group at a press conference in Accra Tuesday stated that they suspect an “executive” influence in the actions of the police against their push for a new voters’ register.

An Accra Circuit Court Monday granted an injunction filed by the Police Service to stop the Let My Vote Count Alliance picketing at the Electoral Commission.

The group scheduled their demonstration aimed at pushing the EC to create a new voters’ register ahead of the 2016 elections for today, Tuesday September 29.

The Police has, however, insisted that the objective of the group in insisting to picket at the EC office is to cause damage to the equipment of the electoral body.
