A good demonstration is marked with discipline and civility – Obiri Boahene shades Arise Ghana protesters

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahene has blamed the actions of the Arise Ghana Demonstrators during Tuesday’s protest.

According to the NPP stalwart, the unwarranted behaviour of the demonstrators was the major cause of the violence that occurred during the demonstration.

Obiri Boahene speaking on Kessben’s FM Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi underscored that a proper demonstration should always be guided with discipline and civility.

He stressed that the biggest cap of the blame should be put on the demonstrators who first broke the agreement they had with the police.

“No one is saying demonstration is not good. We have done several demonstrations in this country of which some of these members of the Arise Ghana Demo were little kids. I was part of the Kumi Preko demonstration and others.

During our time, demonstrations were marked with discipline and civility but unfortunately what do we see today. Anyone who wakes up wants to do whatever he/she likes” Said Obiri Boahene.

“A demonstration is a constitutional right which is respected but it should not be abused, more reason why the public order act was implemented’ He added.
