Christian Atsu to get state burial

Gabriel Boakye-Danquah, the government’s spokeswoman for governance and security, has hinted that Christian Atsu will be accorded a state burial.

He stated that the Government has been in contact with the deceased footballer’s family regarding funeral arrangements.

“government is in full support of all their funeral plans and arrangements.”

He added: “Government is working in line with that, I think it is a unilateral decision, government is working in line with that.”

Atsu was confirmed dead last Saturday after his lifeless body was recovered out of the wreckage in the wake of the earthquake in Turkey.

This came after days of rigorous searching in the aftermath of the terrible earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria two weeks ago.

On Tuesday, several ex-players visited the home of their deceased colleague’s family to express their condolences.

Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari were among a number of footballers that paid their respects to the family of the late Christian Atsu.
