Once defeated MP hopeful of the Korle Klottey constituency Philip Addison has alleged the primary which took place over the weekend was flawed because “people who voted were not qualified.”
According to the lead lawyer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2012 election petition hearing, “people were bused” to vote and insisted “everything had been cooked.”
Addison, who lost miserably with a paltry 22 votes as against 393 votes by his main rival Nii Noi Nortey, told Accra-based Joy FM he will be “meeting some of the senior members of the party today to discuss the way forward because people are mad.”
Addison stressed the entire election was tampered with because he believes “the EC were in on it”, alleging further that “people were given double ballots.”
He opined: “Something went wrong somewhere… I’m telling you majority of the delegates were on my side.”
The Saturday election was marred with challenges.
While supporters of the former constituency chairperson Nii Noi Nortey insisted the election can take place today as directed by the national executives, those of Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah said today was inappropriate.
The two rival supporter groups invaded the headquarters of the party in Asylum-down.
Mr. Addison who was lawyer for the party during 2012 election petition case had said the election was being rushed through by the party executives.
Primaries for the Korle Klottey and Okaikoi South parliamentary seats were scheduled for today Sunday August 2, 2015 following the resolution of the issues that stalled them.
