Casillas to say Real Madrid farewell ahead of Porto move
Iker Casillas will bid farwell to Real Madrid on Friday, according to a club sponsor, although reports in Spain claim his proposed move to Porto could be in jeopardy.
Casillas’ future at Real has been the subject of speculation this summer, with the club interested in Manchester United No. 1 David De Gea.
Portuguese side Porto are reported to be interested in signing the Spain international with a two-year agreement said to be in the offing.
For the transfer to be completed Real would reportedly contribute to the remaining two years of Casillas’ salary at the Bernabeu.
Los Blancos’ sponsor, bwin, announced on their Twitter account that the goalkeeper will say goodbye at the Bernabeu on Friday.
However, newspapers Marca and AS report that the agreement between Real and Casillas is on the verge of falling apart.
According to both publications, the heart of the dispute is Casillas wanting Real to pay part of his wages in gross (pre-tax deductions) and not net, something the club is not prepared to do.
With the 34-year-old to pay a lower tax rate on his earnings of 26.5 percent in Portugal compared to the 50 percent he pays in Spain, Real want to save money by paying the player in net.
