Former Chelsea player in £5.5m lottery win
Terry Bradbury, who turned out for the club in the 1950s and played alongside the likes of Jimmy Greaves, has won £5.5 million and says the jackpot is “the icing on the cake”
Terry Bradbury, a former Chelsea player who earned around £20 a week at the club, has won £5.5 million in the UK’s National Lottery.
The 75-year-old played alongside the likes of Jimmy Greaves and Terry Venables in the late 1950s, and has now scooped a bumper windfall of £5,517,016.
Bradbury now lives in Derbyshire with his wife and says that the win is “just the icing on the cake” following a playing career that spanned 16 years.
“I had a good time at Chelsea, enjoyed every minute – all through my playing career,” he told the BBC.
“I was getting about £20 for playing football but a tradesman was only getting £8 to £10, so it’s all relative.”
Mrs Bradbury added: “It is wonderful to think that none of our children will have a mortgage or any stress for the rest of their lives.
“This win provides our family with security and this is what pleases Terry and myself more than anything.”
Some people have all the luck…
