Pat Thomas releases new album
Highlife musician Pat Thomas has released a new album. This is his first internationally released studio album, recorded in Accra with his band, the Kwashibu Area Band.
Directors Kwame Yeboah and Ben Abarbanel-Wolff add superb new compositions and re-arrange some of Thomas’ ‘80s compositions for a full live band.
Speaking on #SaturdayLive a fortnight ago, he told the host – Kojo Akoto Boateng – that “the album would be ready by the end of June 2015 but it will not be released here (Ghana). It will be released in Europe. The recording company is in France and they want to begin with an European release.”
According to the label Strut Records, “the new studio album from West African music legend Pat Thomas is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of the year.”
This is his sixteenth (16th) album if it’s successfully released.
Born Nana Kwabena Amo Mensah in Agona – Ashanti, Pat Thomas is one of the most respected highlife musicians. He has worked with bands in Ghana, Cote D’Ivoure and Europe. His unique voice earned him the enviable title of the Golden Voice of Africa.
