Hot race for Talensi as NDC sets June 21 for primaries
The race for the vacant Talensi seat in the Upper East Region is heating up as the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) seeks to reclaim the seat John Akologo Tia held for 20 years and lost to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Robert Mosore Doameng in 2012.
The NDC has set June 21 for primaries for the vacant Talensi constituency seat.
Six people have already picked up nomination forms to contest the seat which was formerly occupied by the NPP’s Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore.
The seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament following the enstoolment of Mosore as chief of the Tolon traditional area.
According to the EC, it will take nominations for the said by-election on Tuesday, 23rd and Wednesday 24th June 2015, at the district office of the Commission at Tongo from 9.00am to 12.00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Nomination forms may be obtained from the district office of the Commission or at the regional office in Bolgatanga.
Candidates seeking election should provide two recent photographs (bust) showing the full face and both ears against a red background along with their nomination forms.
The filing fee is GH¢1000.
The Electoral Commission has set Tuesday July 7, 2015 for the by-election.
