Kwaw Kese denied bail again
Hiplife rapper Emmanuel “Kwaw Kese” Botchway’s application for bail was refused on Monday and he has been further remanded until December 22.
Justice William Boampong had on Monday November 24, 2014 denied the rapper’s lawyer Nana Kwesi Boitie’s plea for his client to be granted bail and remanded him in two weeks custody ahead of Monday, 8th December’s sitting.
Musicians and wellwishers who thronged the Kumasi Circuit Court expected a release, but were disappointed.
Prosecutors are expected to submit as evidence the substance Kwaw was arrested allegedly smoking. The judge allowed a two-week period as the prosecuting officer Emmanuel Aconnor, who is the head of Judicial Police for the Ashanti region, requested time for forensics to test and submit the results of the test to the court.
However, according to criminal law experts, if it is true ‘the man insane’, as he is commonly known, was smoking marijuana or “wee” then there is a possibility of his serving the full jail term of 10 or 11 years.
Kwaw Kese was brought to court in a taxi by two police officers and quickly whisked away after the hearing.
Artistes including Edem, Evangelist Lord Kenya, Tic Tac, Guru, Gemini were among those spotted at the Kumasi Circuit Court to observe proceedings.
