The Electoral Commission (EC) is urging all registered voters to come forward and check their names and particulars in a “spring clean” of the electoral register.
The voters register will be exhibited from Friday, October 24 to Thursday, October 30, at all polling stations throughout the country in accordance with Regulation 22 (1) of the Public Elections (Registration of voters) Regulations 2012, C. I. 72.
The exhibition will start at 7am and close at 6pm each day of the revision period, including Saturday and Sunday.
A statement signed by Mr Amadu Sulley, EC Deputy Chairman in charge of operations, urged voters to request for correction of wrong data as well as the inclusion of their names and particulars where those genuinely registered have been omitted.
The exhibition is also an opportunity to clean the register by removing the names of unqualified people, such as minors and non-citizens, as well as removing the names of dead people.
Only those who appear in person will be allowed to correct wrong data or request the inclusion of their names where they have been omitted.
The public has been advised to take their voter ID cards along to facilitate easy checking of their names.
