Health Ministry presents Ebola protective gear to institutions

The Ministry of Health in collaboration with Ministry of Education has presented protective gear to tertiary institutions across the country to help in detecting the deadly Ebola virus among foreign students.
The equipment included 630 pieces of gloves, 500 goggles, 50 yellow gown, 432 face shield, 500 pieces of personal protective equipment, 50 aprons and 600 nose masks.
Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah, Minister of Health said the Ebola outbreak in West Africa is one of the most challenging global public health challenges.
Dr Agyemang-Mensah said the ministry will continue to put measures in place to make sure the disease does not enter the country.
The minister said the country’s entry points have been secured, and thanked the Port health authorities and Immigration and Customs personnel for their efforts.
He said the ministry would continue to educate the public and to push for a clean environment clean to avoid cholera and other diseases.
Professor Jane Naana Agyemang-Poku, Minister of Education said posters would be placed at strategic points to educate the public about preventative measures.
The protective gear was handed over to representatives of public and private universities, polytechnics, and colleges.
