Kwesi Appiah agrees to work with technical adviser
Fred Pappoe, a member of the GFA Executive Committee has revealed that James Kwesi Appiah, the head coach of the Black Stars, is ready to work with a technical adviser.
The former Vice Chairman of the Ghana FA, who is part of the three-man committee formed by the Executive Committee to search for a technical adviser for the Black Stars has indicated that the head coach has accepted the decision for a technical adviser, among other additions to the technical bench of the senior national team of Ghana.
Ghana’s World Cup participation in Brazil was engulfed with several issues like player agitation, delay in the payment of appearance fees, etc, thus their inability to progress past the group phase of the competition for the very first time in their World Cup participation.
Despite the decision to hand Kwesi Appiah a two-year contract prior to the start of the mundial, the Ghana FA have decided to settle on a technical adviser to compliment the effort of Kwesi Appiah, and Fred Pappoe has disclosed that the head coach is okay with their commitment to beef-up the technical bench.
“Kwesi Appiah has welcomed the idea of a technical adviser, so no one is trying to impose it on him,” he told Metro fm.
“We will work hard to get a competent person for the position of a technical adviser and it could be a local trainer or a foreign one, depending on the capabilities of the person.
“In addition we have decided to add more hands to the technical bench of the Black Stars by including a high profile video analyst and some other assistants.
“Due to the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers, which is eminent, we will speed up our search to settle on one.”
Ghana is drawn in Group ‘E’ with Uganda, Togo and Guinea. They will engage Uganda at home before making a date with Togo.
