We will prefer easy candidate Bawumia, Alan will be tough for us – NDC communicator

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will start vetting its presidential candidates who want to head the party in the general elections of 2024 today, July 3.

Former trade minister Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, businessman Kwadwo Poku, and current vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are the candidates scheduled to go through the screening today.

A member of the National Democratic Congress communication team member Prince Nyarko reckons the NDC will want to face candidate Bawumia in the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Kessben FM’s Maakye with Kwame Frimpong Simms, Prince stressed that the former trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng will be a tougher opponent to John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 election than the vice president.

The NDC member underscored that Dr Bawumia who has been part of the mess created will be a walk in the park of the NDC. He emphatically stated that for them, they prefer Bawumia.

The screening process will continue with further candidates on Tuesday, July 4; these include Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, a former Energy Minister, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former NPP General Secretary.

The party will have a special congress on August 26 to choose five candidates for the primary on November 4.
