I miss Fennec so much – Kwaw Kese

A year after his manager was murdered, rapper Kwaw Kese says he is still finding it difficult coming to terms with the fact that is gone.
The rapper’s manager Fennec Okyere was killed at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road, Accra on Thursday, March 13, 2014 by unknown assailants. He died at age 31.
Kwaw Kese, speaking after a candle-light vigil for his late manager at the Afrikiko Gardens in Accra last Friday, said he missed Fennec a lot.
“I miss the love. I miss Fennec the person he was. The things we used to do together. I miss our laughs, the smiles he put on my face. I miss the morale, the encouragement he used to give to me all the time. I miss him so much,” a mournful Kwaw Kese recounted.
He noted that his late manager was one of a kind and it would be very difficult to replace him.
“Fennec cannot be replaced. We are trying to make it happen and I know that though he is gone, his spirit follows me all the time. I said some time ago that Fennec is irreplaceable and yes he is still irreplaceable.”
Fennec Okyere was the backbone of Kwaw’s musical career and many pundits said his death would create a big void in the rapper’s career.
Asked what made his late manager unique, Kwaw Kese said, “Fennec was a go-getter. Fennec always wanted to have results and he didn’t care what it will take for him to get results. To me he was the hardest working man that I ever set eyes on.”
Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson (Bulldog), manager of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, was picked up by the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) over the death of Fennec in May last year. He was later granted bail by the Human Rights Court.
Although not much has been heard from the police concerning the killing after that arrest, Kwaw Kese is urging the police to expedite their work to help bring closure to the unfortunate incident.
“We are lighting these candles today to remind the police that they have a job to do and that job is to find the killers. It’s been a year but that doesn’t mean they should give up. I believe that when they put in the work and commitment, they can give us results… they should help us find the culprits,” he urged.
Some of the celebrities who attended the vigil included, Edward Nana Poku Osei (Hammer of the Last), Kwabena Anokye Adisi (Bola Ray) and Kwame Sakyiamah (Lexis Bill).
Kwaw Kese reappeared in court on Friday, March 13 for his ongoing case for allegedly smoking cannabis in public.
The case was adjourned to April 9 after the state presented its first witness in court.
