Okyeame Kwame back in school
Hiplife artiste Okyeame Kwame is going back to school to fulfill his dream of achieving a doctorate.
Last week, the 2010 Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year winner was spotted on the premises of the Business School of the University of Ghana, Legon. Okyeame Kwame is part of the first batch of 36 postgraduate students pursuing the newly introduced Marketing Strategy course.
Throwing light on his new endeavour, the Rap Dacta said: “I believe education and the acquisition of knowledge is very important to improve my art so pursuing higher learning is just one of the many ways to achieve that goal.”
Apart from his music career which he is sure to improve with the new knowledge he will acquire, Okyeame Kwame hopes to develop business ideas to run his company.
He said that even though his education might interrupt his career, he has put in place measures to keep himself relevant on the music scene during the year-long study.
“I have a competent management team to handle affairs when I’m busy with school activities. Besides, I have recorded many songs which I intend to release occasionally. I also have some videos I have shot so it is not as if I will be lost in the system,” he stated.
When asked if this was a move towards achieving his PhD, the Woara artiste replied, “Yes, that is right. The journey to become an academic doctor has just begun”.
