NPP to meet to resolve security clash

The opposition New Patriotic Party is holding a crisis meeting today to quell the internal wrangling that is threatening to tear the party apart.
The crucial meeting called by the National Chairman, Paul Afoko, will discuss recent events in the party which generated huge debate across the country.
Among the issues to be discussed, according to Daily Guide sources, is the confusion over who gave instructions for security details at the headquarters to be changed.
Virtually all members of the national executives have denied authorizing the decision which resulted in fiery clashes at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters on Monday morning.
A group of young men from Magnus Security tried to take over control of security functions at the NPP head office from the regular security, Invisible Forces.
The General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyapong, was nearly assaulted by angry party youth who had gathered there when he arrived.
It took the intervention of a team of police officers led by the Greater Accra Regional Commander, Christian Tetteh Yehonu to bring the situation under control.
The police had to provide a police escort to the General Secretary to his office.
So far, the only person who has sought to give some sort of justification to the change in security at the headquarters is an aide to NPP General Secretary, Davis Opoku Ansah, popularly known as OPK, who wrote on his Facebook wall: “First of all, no security person has been sacked form the NPP headquarters. They were told they will undergo some training to sharpen their delivery.”
