Apraku promises clean campaign

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential hopeful Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku has promised delegates a clean campaign ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for early December.
Dr Apraku is among seven people who have picked nomination forms for the presidential primaries of the party.
In an interview with Today, he said he had confidence that NPP’s delegates would give him the flag-bearers mantle to lead the party to power against the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I know our delegates and I can tell you that they are hungry for power: therefore they will not do anything that will cause them defeat again,” the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso-North stressed.
Dr Aparku said NPP needs a leader who can bring the party together after the primaries. He noted that the party needs to put its house in order so as to win the confidence of voters, especially swing voters.
‘’It is our (NPP’s) responsibility to save Ghana from its economic mess else the country is doomed forever,” he cautioned.
According to Dr Apraku there was need to instil discipline in the party, particularly in its supporters, to avoid flouting the party’s constitution during campaigns for their candidates.
He was also optimistic that the NPP would go through its presidential primaries successfully and emerge more united to win the 2016 elections.
Dr Apraku cautioned those bent on washing the party’s ‘dirty linen’ in public in the name of supporting their candidate that this would hurt the party’s cause.
