Alan Kyeremanteng's special aide denies GAKE’s statement discouraging Akufo-Addo from running for the third time
Nana Yaw Adutwum, special aide to Alan Kojo Kyeremanteng, has distanced himself from statements made by “Get Alan Kyeremanteng Elected” (GAKE), a group championing for the election of Kyeremanteng as the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party.
A statement, which was issued and signed by Katakyei Kwame Opoku Agyemang, national coordinator of the Alan Kyeremanteng campaign group and featured in The Statesman newspaper said: “If Akufo-Addo wins like Mills he would die like Mills”.
The statement added: “GAKE contends that ever since Nana Akufo-Addo, the 2008 presidential candidate of the NPP lost two successive elections, series of blame have been levelled against prominent people and institutions in the country for no justification.
“For after blaming everybody – Afari Gyan, Mahama, Kufour, Alan , Supreme Court, Polling Agents, except himself, Akufo-Addo and his supporters are now saying that Prof. Mills won the presidency on his third attempt – 2000, 2004 and 2008, so the NPP delegates should allow him a third time chance as NPP’s flag bearer.”
In an interview with Kessben FM’s morning show host, Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, Mr Adutwum says no one has yet been appointed officially to communicate for Alan’s campaign team, and that he finds it a bit difficult to believe a group would come out in public with such statements. He says though he believes in intra-party politics, people with the love for Alan should not come up with statements that could cause stir in the party.
Finally, he called on party members to be circumspect and put the party first so they could move forward as one people.
