‘No space for us to cook for ourselves & You will put our lives at risk to walk miles to buy food’ – Teacher Trainees cry

The Association of Teacher trainees in Ghana have reacted to the directive by the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education  – Ghana (PRINCOF) to scrap feeding for the trainees.

PRINCOF has directed with effect from 8th May 2022, all trainees at the 46 public colleges of Education will feed themselves.

The General Secretary of the Teacher Trainees Association, Sumaila Musa speaking with Nyakoh Abronomah on Kessben FM’s Breaking News said that the directive will put their lives at risk.

According to him, some of the Colleges are located far from towns which makes it very difficult to go out to buy food, especially during the night.

He said that considering the accommodation problems and lack of facilities on campus, students can not have that space to be cooking for themselves.

PRINCOF noted that in the last six months the feeding fees which are supposed to be provided by the Government have been in arrears.
