The Let My Vote Count Allaince (LMVCA) has served notice to the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan to desist from making unguarded statements as the country waits for the final verdict on the Election Petition case.
The group is alleging that Mr. Boateng Gyan on an Accra based radio station; Okay FM reportedly said that “the panel of nine Justices will effectively ignore all the evidence before it and rule against the petitioners, adding that there should rather be electoral reforms.”
A statement signed by the spokesperson for the group, David Asante stated that this unguarded statement “have the potential to give his party supporters false hope albeit not based on evidence but on what his party supporters want.”

We wish to draw the public’s attention, as well as serve a warning to Yaw Boateng Gyan and all who may want to make irresponsible and unguarded statements as we await the verdict of the Supreme Court on the Presidential petition to be reminded of the chaos such ugly comments would likely lead us.
The National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress appears to be setting the stage to pre-determine for the justices what decision they should take or rule as far as the Presidential petition is concerned.
Mr. Boateng Gyan is reported to have said on Okay FM, that the panel of nine Justices would effectively ignore all the evidence before it and rule against the petitioners, adding that there should rather be electoral reforms.
He might not be aware of the level of anger his comments have invoked within the NPP, with some supporters asking if his comments could be informed by information gathered by the NDC from the quarters of the Justices.
His unguarded statements also have the potential to give his party supporters false hope albeit not based on evidence but on what his party supporters want.
The whole world heard and saw what happened during this trial. If his strategy is to use such communication to motivate his low-spirited supporters, then he should do so with facts and without prejudice to what the constitution has mandated the Supreme Court to do, which is to determine the validity of the presidential election.
The two specific reliefs petitioners are seeking in accordance to CI74 and constitution are:
That John Mahama was not validly elected as president
But rather, Nana Akufo- Addo was validly elected as president
In addition, the petitioners say any other relief the court in its wisdom recommends including electoral reforms after considering the two primary reliefs sought would be welcome.
We will also warn Yaw Boateng Gyan to desist from using the name of Jesus Christ in vain. He should remove the Son of God from his plot.
