Sir John to appear before Supreme Court on Monday

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie will be hauled before the Supreme Court on Monday.

The President of the panel of Judges hearing the election petition case at the Supreme Court, Justice William Atuguba on Monday indicated that the court will consider summoning Mr. Owusu Afriyie for possible acts of contempt.

A publication in the Enquirer newspaper reported that the NPP General Secretary had made contemptuous statements against the Justices.

The judges subsequently requested for the audio version of the said interview which was granted to an Accra-based radio station.

Two persons have already served jail terms while another has been banned from attending the Supreme Court hearing of the case for making similar contemptuous statements against the judges and the election petition.
