Kotoko eye $200,000 as Bancey transfer looms

Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey completed a medical at Egyptian club Smouha SC on Tuesday evening as he puts finishing touches to his move from Ghanaian champions to the Egyptian league.
Reliable sources can confirm that if passed fit by the Egyptian side, the 24-year old will sign a three-year deal which will fetch Kotoko $200,000 in transfer fees.
Confirming the news Asante Kotoko’s General Manager Samuel Opoku Nti said: “Bancey’s departure is one of three we as management have sanctioned due to the difficulties we faced in trying to maintain the players. Ever since he returned from the CHAN tournament he had been pressurising us about offers he has been receiving from clubs abroad – which number up to five clubs.”
“It has not been our wish to sell him because we have Africa to compete in but the fear of keeping an unhappy player and the risk of losing him on a free at the end of next season meant we had to open up and negotiate for the best deal possible,” Opoku Nti added.
Bancey who was the second top scorer in the 2013/14 First Capital Plus Premier League with 11 goals joined the Porcupine
Warriors from Ebusua Dwarfs in July 2012.
He will become the seventh Ghanaian to play for Smouha following predecessors Eric Bekoe, Cofie Bekoe, Samuel Afum, Ernest Papa Arko as well as recent duo David Ofei and Samuel Owusu.
