This should be the last time we go to the IMF– John Dramani Mahama

The former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama in his interview with Voice of America stated that this should be the ‘last time we go to the IMF’ when asked about the Economic instability in Ghana.

It hasn’t been long since his Excellency, Nana Akuffo Addo started negotiations with the International Monetary Fund for an IMF bailout.

The modifications and conditions are still ongoing and citizens are complaining about high inflation and have criticized the government for delaying the negotiations with IMF.

He says Ghana’s economy is unstable due to continued borrowing, pushing the country’s debt high.

He added that going back and forth with IMF creates economic instability and reduces the faith the people have in a democracy.

In his opinion, strengthening the state institutions as well as anti-corruption institutions could help solve the economic crisis.
