Deadly voyage: Two survive but five die transporting dead body

Two men have survived an accident when the ambulance carrying a corpse which they were travelling on with five other people at Agona Bobikuma in the Central Region somersaulted and caught fire.

The survivors who sustained varying degrees of injuries have been admitted at the Lady of Grace Catholic Hospital whiles five others including a Reverend Minister were burnt beyond recognition.

In an interview with Citi News Police Commander for the Ajumako District DSP Seth Tay recounted that in an attempt to negotiate a curve; the car somersaulted, landed with its wheels upwards and then caught fire.

“We heard that there were seven occupants in it and two were in the passengers’ seat with the rest at the back” he said.

According to him, the two male seated at the front escaped death but were severely injured and taken to the Ajumako hospital.

“The rest could not come out and then the fire consumed them beyond recognition” he added.

He further stated that the two men who sustained injuries would aid them in investigations to know what actually happened.

“They are the ones that we would be putting our hope on to get exactly what happened” he added.
