Vote buying rocks Wa
As Ghana readies to go to the polls on Friday December 7, 2012, politicians have greatly intensified their various campaigns with some reports indicating that several illegalities are also being perpetrated.
Citi News’ Upper West regional Correspondent, Mahama Latif, some of the irregularities include various acts of vote buying by representatives of the two major political parties; the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in the Upper West Region for example.
Parliamentary candidates for the NDC and the NPP are allegedly sharing food items, bicycles, cloths and money to entice the voters.
According to Mahama Latif, “there is vote buying particularly among the two major political parties.
According to him representatives of the political parties are openly seen distributing “bags of rice, motor bikes and other goodies to electorates.”
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Centre for the Promotion of Democratic Governance in Wa, Madam Abiba Nibaradun has asked the electorate to reject the vote buyers on December 7.
