Obasanjo arrives in Ghana ahead of Dec. 7 polls

The leader of the ECOWAS Election Observer Mission to Ghana, former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo has arrived in Ghana ahead of the elections on Friday.

Mr. Obasanjo is leading a team of 250 foreign observers who have already arrived and been deployed nationwide.

The team comprises representatives of various segments of the West African society, who will carefully observe the conduct of the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

Speaking to the media upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, Mr. Obasanjo noted that although Ghana’s track record is enviable, there is still need for strengthening the democracy.

“We believe that from the track record of Ghana and election matters, that this one will not be an exception. If anything, it will be to strengthen the tradition, culture and reputation in the past particularly the Kumasi peace pact.”
