“NPP will suffer if he deflects or goes Independent” – Kumasi market women react to Alan’s withdrawal

Some market women in the NPP’s Stronghold, Kumasi, Ashanti region have reacted to Alan Kyeremanteng’s decision to pull out from the NPP flagberership contest.

Mr. Kyeremanten said he made the decision in response to the happenings that occurred during the super delegates elections on August 26, 2023, in a press release published in Accra.

“In light of the foregoing, I wish to confirm that I am honourably withdrawing from the process that will lead to the Presidential Primaries to be held on the 4th of November 2023. In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana, after consultations with my family and other well-wishers, various stakeholders and interest groups.

“In addition, the fact that my Polling Agent in the North East region has suffered severe damage to his eyesight, arising from his bold and courageous effort to ensure compliance with the very rules and regulations for the conduct of the elections as approved by the Presidential Elections Committee, will forever remain a dark spot in the history of internal elections within the Party. This incident and various acts of violence and collusion, reported in other Voting Centers, are appalling, unconscionable, and despicable. I am committed to, and value the safety of those who work with me and for me, and I will always fight for their interest.” the statement said.

His shocking decision to withdraw has become a topical issue among the market women at Kumasi Central market whom many reckon isn’t good for the NPP party.

According to the market women, it will be suicidal if the former trade minister decides to deflect to a different party to contest the 2024 presidential election or go on an independent ticket.

Alan in the press statement stipulated that he would take some time off to consult his family and decide on the next political move.

Media rumours however indicate it is likely he may join forces with Kennedy Agyapong.
