We will recruit competent polling station agents – Akuffo Addo

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 general elections, Nana Akuffo Addo has revealed that the party will invest more in the recruitment and training of its polling agents in its quest to ensure a free, fair and transparent election.
According to him, the move forms part of measures adopted by the party to complement the work of the Electoral Commission that is constitutionally mandated to conduct elections in the country.

Nana Akuffo Addo made these comments when he addressed a press conference to outline details of the party’s request to the Electoral Commission for a new voter’s register in a build up to the 2016 general elections.
“After the decision of the Supreme Court in the 2012 election petition, I and many others have said that the NPP will not be interested in taking another case electoral malpractices to court, we say so not because we have lost confidence in the ability of the judicial system to deliver justice in the presidential election disputes,No,”
“We would much rather spend our energy to ensure a fair electoral playing field by securing electoral reforms and a new and credible electoral voter’s register from the EC and yes we will pay extra attention to the recruitment and training of our polling agents,” he stated.
The NPP is questioning the credibility of Ghana’s voter’s register which they say is likely to affect the outcome of next year’s elections.
They insist the register is bloated.
