Alan Kyeremanten’s Demonstration Of Maturity Commendable – Dr. Joseph Kwadwo Danquah

Ghana’s former Minister for Trade and Industry under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, on Sunday, June 25, 2023, justified his level of political maturity and experience to the admiration of many political pundits and the generality of Ghanaians.

The observations of most Ghanaians across the country’s political divide connote that the concluding rally of the New Patriotic Party ahead of the by-election in the Assin North constituency in the Central Region on June 27, 2023, had an ulterior motive to ostentatiously project the vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, orchestrated by the organisers of the event. This was to be accomplished by means of the vice president’s scandalous breach of protocol at the event.

The ploy, which was operationalised to put to the test the composure of Alan, the gentleman with over four decades of political experience and exposure, turned out to rather defend his forbearance in the face of adversities.

In the middle of his speech during the referenced mammoth rally at Assin Breku, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, the leading contender in the flagbearership race of the New Patriotic Party, was awkwardly prodded into adjourning his persuasive and eloquent delivery for the arrival of the vice president, Dr Bawumia.

Surprisingly, the second gentleman of the land had been made to use an unapproved route through the dense crowd to the stage for the purpose of eliciting a thundering ovation from the thousands of party supporters at the rally. In a sharp contrast to prediction, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s arrival was unheeded as the crowd appeared to abhor the plot to betitle Alan Kyerematen, a senior Patriot. The latter’s demonstration of political maturity, and tolerance of the circumstance earned earned him reverence from the party enthusiasts.

For the record, it was the second time Dr Bawumia, as the vice president of the Republic, had breached protocols at party events for expedience. The maiden instance occurred during the NPP’s Annual National Delegates Conference in December of 2021 in Kumasi, when his arrival came minutes after the president’s. Such a compromising lifestyle is not in character for anyone who seeks to lead a political party like the New Patriotic Party.
