Owusu-Bempah Demands Unqualified Apology From A-Plus

The deputy director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ernest Owusu Bempah is demanding a retraction of Kwame Asare Obeng, otherwise known as A-Plus defamatory words and an unqualified apology or to take legal action against him.

Mr Bempah emphasized that these accusations and defamatory statements were made without any substantiation or lawful justification.

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, one of the most unthinkable things happened during the live broadcast of UTV’s award-winning United Showbiz program.

The show had to be abruptly halted when a group of young men who claimed to be affiliates of the NPP stormed the studios while MzGee was doing her introduction for the show to threaten some of the panelists, especially the leader of the TPP Movement, A- Plus.

Subsequent videos shared on social media depict a chaotic scene within the UTV studio, with several men calling out for Kwame A Plus. “We are waiting for A- Plus. A- Plus has to explain to us why he tore our paper from the NPP party. We are here, we are waiting for A- Plus. We are protecting our party property,” one of the men is heard shouting in the studio.

The confusion resulted in a break in production before the program was eventually taken off the air. Amidst the chaos, one name was dragged into the controversy—Ernest Owusu-Bempah.
