Blame free SHS for the mass failure in the 2021 WASSCE results – NDC’s Gallant Cadres

The public relations officer of the National Democratic Congress ”Gallant Cadres”, Richard Sarpong has blamed the introduction of free SHS (Senior High School double-track system) by the NPP government for causing more students to fail in 2021 WASSCE.

Per the results released by the West African Education Council, nearly 50% of students who sat for the 2021 WASCCE can’t be admitted into universities considering the pass mark. According to WAEC, 61,778 students failed the Ghana WASSCE examinations.

Richard Sarpong speaking on Breaking News with Akwasi Ntiamoah said due to the double-track system, contact hours have been drastically reduced which has affected learning. He added that another reason for the mass failure has been the fact that in Ghana, the education system is positioned not to really educate but to “chew and pour”
