With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Lawyer Stephen Kwabena Boateng, widely known as Kessben, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
Born and raised in North Suntreso, Kumasi, Kessben rose from humble beginnings to build one of Ghana’s most diversified business empires, spanning media, education, hospitality, transport, and finance. But beyond the boardrooms and broadcast studios, he was known simply as a man of quiet dignity, deep faith, and generosity that touched thousands of lives directly. From the students who walked through the halls of Kessben University College, to the young drivers trained at his driving school, to the countless Ghanaians who tuned into Kessben FM and Kessben TV each day, his reach went far beyond business. Even in his final days, true to form, he was reportedly still giving, extending kindness to inmates at Kumasi Central Prisons just hours before he passed.
He leaves behind not just a group of companies, but a legacy carried forward by everyone whose life he made a little better.
In addition to the physical book of condolence opened at his residence in Denyame, Kumasi, we have created this space so that colleagues, students, listeners, viewers, and friends from anywhere in the world can share a memory or a word of comfort. Every message left here will be read and kept as a lasting tribute to his life.

A LIFE THAT OPENED DOORS
Some people leave footprints.others leave doors opened for generations to walk through.
During my tenure as President of College of Arts and Social Sciences and Later as SRC President of KNUST,one of the major policies we implemented was the provision of theoretical driving education for students, an idea born of the desire to add value to students certificate after they have left the university.
I met Mr Kesse through his son (Festus). They both believed in the vision and immediately gave me the support needed to turn the idea into reality.
Fast forward the Programm saw not less than 200 students get their drivers license before they left university.
Today as I mourn your passing, I remember a man who gave me a chance to make and opened his doors that has left lasting impact.
Your legacy lives on.

Indeed a mighty tree has fallen, a bright star that shines so loud has suddenly gone dim.
Lawyer Kwabena Kesse affectionately known as Kessben was a good man. We crossed paths over a decade ago during one of my major prophetic conferences at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi. You attended the conference in the company of Mr. William ADDO, MD of Ultimate Fashions, my childhood friend who later introduced you to me. Since then you have been more than a brother and friend to me . Infact your departure is a tragic loss to me personally.
Today I join the many lives you touched to celebrate you. A great lawyer, an entrepreneur and a builder, indeed Ghana has lost an asset.
You came to live for a purpose and you have gloriously finish your assignment, you gave all you have to your generation and you have left an indelible mark and a vacuum in our heart which can never be replaced.
Journey on well my good friend and brother, I will miss you, your workers will miss you, your family will miss you and infact Ghana will miss you dearly.
