Abiriw NPP Polls: Delegates Vote Against Kofi Bekoe’s Chairmanship Bid

Concerned delegates and grassroots members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Abiriw No. 1 within the Okere Constituency have openly declared their rejection of what they describe as Kofi Bekoe’s “desperate” bid to become Polling Station Chairman ahead of the party’s internal elections.
The group has instead thrown its full support behind Agya Addo, praising him as a loyal, consistent, and tested grassroots leader who has served the party diligently over the years.
In a statement released to the media, the delegates described Agya Addo as a unifying figure whose contributions to voter mobilization, conflict resolution, and local party organization have strengthened the NPP at the polling station level.
According to them, leadership at the grassroots should be earned through long-term commitment and sacrifice, not political convenience or ambition.
They argued that Agya Addo embodies the qualities needed to sustain unity and discipline within the polling station, especially as the party prepares for future electoral contests.
The delegates also raised concerns about Kofi Bekoe’s decision to enter the polling station race shortly after losing the party’s parliamentary primaries, suggesting that the move reflects an attempt to remain politically relevant.
“To us, this sudden interest is not about service or sacrifice. It is about desperation to maintain political relevance,” the statement noted.
They warned that allowing what they described as ambition-driven leadership could create divisions and weaken the party’s grassroots foundation.
The group further urged delegates to prioritize stability and continuity by retaining Agya Addo as chairman, insisting that the strength of the NPP lies in disciplined and loyal polling station leadership.
They concluded that rewarding loyalty and experience remains key to sustaining the party’s electoral success at the grassroots level.
