Drivers to embark on strike on Thursday over fuel hikes

The Executive member for National Alliance Digital Drivers Union, Edward Sackey has called on the government to reduce taxes and levies on fuel.

The drivers have indicated to embark on strike on Thursday 11th November 2021 if they do not get any positive feedback from the Government by the close of Wednesday.

The coalition of private transport operators has also declared their intentions to embark on strike on Thursday, November 11 at 3:00 pm due to the hike in fuel prices.

Edward Sackey said the increment in fuel price has a greater influence on all products which therefore influences prices on the market.

According to him, digital drivers do not make much income from the services they offer. He explained that the App takes a percentage from each ride, coupled with drivers buying fuel and making sales which at the end of the day, drivers don’t make much income for themselves.

Edward Sackey has therefore called on the government to intervene and reduce fuel prices and some taxes which has negatively affected the driving profession.
