Market women cry over continuous fuel hikes
A market woman, Aunty Diana says hikes of fuel do not only have an influence on transport fares but also on other businesses in Ghana.
Aunty Diana, a market woman at the Dome Market has expressed her worry about the continuous increase of fuel prices which affects buying and selling.
According to her, 2021 has been a difficult year for market women due to the increment of fuel prices within short periods.
She explained that just within a short period, the hikes in fuel have affected the prices of some foodstuffs such as Maize which was sold at Ghc400-420, has now been increased to Ghc600 and other foodstuffs in the market have also increased which affects selling and buying.
Aunty Diana says the government should reduce taxes and reduce fuel prices to make it easier for sellers and buyers.
When asked about her expectation from the budget, she said she is expecting the government to reduce taxes and fuel prices.
