Sea waves displaced over 1000 people in Ketu South (Video)
Over 200 households were destroyed after Sunday’s heavy rain in Ketu south which cause a strong tidal wave to displace over 1000 people.
Kessben FM’s reporter, Frederick Poha reporting from Ketu told Ali Baba Dankambari on Breaking News that this particular tidal wave that hit the community has never been experienced in Ketu.
According to Frederick, the displaced persons have since been staying at Churches and schools since the Sunday evening heavy rain led to a strong tidal wave which washed away their homes.
Mostly affected were fishermen and fish traders who live not far from the sea. The distance between the shores of the sea and where the people have been living is reported to be one kilometre.
This is not the first time the people who live around the sea have been displaced through a tidal wave. It has been a threat to the communities around.
Past governments have promised to build a sea defence wall to protect the nearby communities but this has remained a lip service over the years.
