Former National Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anita Desoso, has expressed disappointment in the ongoing brouhaha on the payment of salaries or allowances to spouses of the president and Vice President.
Her disappointment stems from what she described as a disgrace and a ploy by Prez Nana Akufo and his government to milk the nation of its hard-earned taxes payers money.
This comes after the recommendation of Prof. Yaa Ntiamoah-Badu committee established pursuant to Article 71 of the constitution, which among other things, seek to regularize the payments allowances to spouses of the current President and Vice President, former Heads of state, President, and Vice Presidents respectively as part of the privileges committee due them under Article 71 of the constitution.
Although the First Lady Rebecca Akufo Addo in a statement from her office, stated that, in consultation with the President of the Republic has decided to refund all monies paid to her as allowances from the date of the President’s assumption in office, i.e from January 2017 to date, amounting to Ghc 899,097.84
Speaking to Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on Ghana’s Number one morning show, Maakye, madam Desoso, stated “although the constitution of Ghana allows the payments of allowances first and second lady but not covered by Article 71 of Ghana’s constitution, therefore, payment of salaries to first and second lady is laughable and a disgrace to the Good people of Ghana.
She further stated that this is devilish and away by God to expose and disgrace President Akufo and his government as the worse party to be in power in the 4th republic.
In expressing her displeasure, she also cited other cases under the governance of Prez. Akufo Addo, the alleged bribery allegations leveled against Chief Justice Anin Yeboah, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh describing Ghana as heaven to live, Prez Akufo Addo’s comments on teachers, urging them to see their work as a voluntary one and give out their best when performing their duties but rather venture into other more professions if they want to be millionaires.
All these according to her makes Ghana worse under President Akufo Addo and hinted at possible recurring gargantuan demonstrations to hit the nation. and therefore needs deliverance from some of Ghana’s powerful Prophets.
