We’ll defy Police by using Ministries route – AFAG
Pressure Group, the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) is calling the bluff of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command saying it will not heed the Police’s warning against using the Ministries road for its planned demonstration on March 26th.
The Accra Police Command has cautioned the leadership of AFAG to find an alternative route after it said the Ministry roads would not be opened to the demonstrators.
Speaking to Citi News, the Director of Operations for AFAG, Davis Opoku said the Police have no right to tell them what to do.
“We made it clear that we will not change that route. We are going to use the Ministries and make a turn to Parliament and present our petition to Parliament. That is the motive of this demonstration; the demonstration that seeks to change in all spheres of life; a demonstration that will keep the government on its toes.”
According to him, AFAG wants to send a clear message to civil workers in Ghana that “if we want to uproot corruption in this country so we want to touch base with them, we want to communicate to them and that is why we wish to use that route.”
Mr. Opoku appealed to the Police to be “accommodating because we are bent on using that particular route and later converge at the Efua Sutherland Park.”
