The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed the President’s comment that he will abide by the Supreme Court ruling in petition challenging his legitimacy.
President Mahama at a meeting with the Eastern Regional House of Chief pledged that he will abide by whatever ruling the Supreme Court will give in the matter.
Speaking to Citi News, Director of Communications for the NPP, Nana Akomoa said the President will have no potion than comply with the Supreme Court ruling.
“It is good that all the actors in the suit are all pledging to abide by the Supreme Court ruling. Both Nana Akufo-Addo and John Mahama have made that call and I think it is good,” he stated.
Nana Akomea further stated, “I however believe that it should not matter because when the Supreme Court rules on the matter, it does not lie in the hands of anybody be it President Mahama or Nana Akufo-Addo to say they have a choice. We don’t have a choice in the matter.”
“When the Supreme Court rules, that becomes the law and everybody must abide by it so even though they are saying they will abide, they really have no choice,” he added.
