The ex-first lady and flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP) Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings has denied endorsing the New Patriotic Party leader Nana Akufo-Addo.
Dr Hilarious Abiu Deputy Director of Communications of the NDP told Joy News there has not been any explicit endorsement of Nana Akufo-Addo by the NDP flagbearer.
Akufo-Addo had told thousands of NPP supporters at the party’s final rally in Accra on Wednesday that information picked up by the campaign team indicated that Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings had endorsed him and had directed all her supporters to vote for the NPP presidential candidate and the NDP parliamentary candidates.
He thanked Mrs Rawlings for the gesture. But the NDP leader has dismissed the statement.
Her spokesperson, Dr Abiu said there has not been any express declaration from Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, neither has she directed anybody to make any such declaration on her behalf.
What she told members is that they must make a good assessment of their living standards and evaluate the various policies being trumpeted by the various parties, Abiu clarified.
He stated however that the NDP has been diametrically opposed to the NDC because it failed to fight corruption.
He said Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings will later speak to the issue
