Blame drivers for the spate of accidents on our roads – Ashanti MTTD Commander

The Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic Transport Department commander, Supt. Frank Abrokwah has blamed the high spate of road-related accidents on our roads in the country to carelessness on the part of drivers.
He said drivers who engage in reckless and dangerous driving is believed to account largely for the carnage on the country’s roads.
Supt. Abrokwah made this revelation when he spoke to Kessben Fm’s Omanhene Yaw Adu-Boakye on the Maakye show.
Commenting on the attitude of drivers, he said, “There is a lot of chaos with motorists changing lanes when they should not, wrongful overtaking, overloading default in headlights .”
Supt.Frank, says they have liaised with Drivers and Vehicle Licensing Authority to examine potential drivers.
“We are liaising with DVLA to educate the drivers and even potential drivers to help curb the accidents on our roads,” Mr. Abrokwah said
He cited the problems with road markings as well as disregard for pedestrian road crossing as contributing factors to accidents on our roads.
He categorized the problems on the country’s roads under Education and Enforcement and maintained that addressing these issues would help forestall some of the terrible accidents which claim thousands of lives annually.
He added that, the MTTD is doing all they can to educate the general public on traffic regulations in the region.
He also advised the public to complement the efforts of the law enforcement agencies on the right standard of behavior on our roads.
