Tension at Dumso after youth kill 80 Fulani cattle

Just when the dust seems to be settling on the Fulani menace in Agogo, fresh trouble is brewing in the Kintampo South district as irate youth kill 80 cattle belonging to some nomadic herdsmen.
Reports from Dumso Bethel, a community near Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region indicate the agitated youth took the action after the cattle destroyed their farms.
The mass slaughtering is said to be have been triggered by rumours that the herdsmen had called the bluff of the community over their continuous destruction of their vegetation.
Spokesperson for the Dumso community, Haruna Dramani, in an interview on JOYNEWS called for police re-enforcement in the area.
According to him, the Funali herdsmen are planning reprisal attacks and the police will have to move in quickly to avert any calamity.
The Kintampo Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Desmond Owusu Boampong has however assured residents of maximum security.
He said plans are far advanced to stop the situation from escalating.
Chief Supt Boampong also called on residents not to engage in acts that will fuel violence in the area.
