Tarkwah-based Medeama SC left the Banquet Hall of the State House on Friday night as the most decorated club in the 5th MTN FA Cup Awards.
Medeama star Kwasi Donsu grabbed the Most Valuable Player Award. The former Berlin FC fine midfielder also finished as the competition’s top scorer; hitting the back of the net six times.
Medeama, winners of this year’s FA Cup also picked the Best Goalkeeper (Muntari Tagoe), Best Coach (Tom Strand) and the goal of the tournament (Donsu: Hearts Vs Medeama) prizes.
It was Mighty Jet’s Emmanuel Eli Keke, who won the Most Promising Award with Aduana Stars right back, Godfred Saka emerging as the best defender.
Paul Ayamba and CW Okai were crowned the Best Match Commissioners, while Issaka Afful was adjudged the Best Referee. The Best Assistant Referee and Most Promising Referee went to Ashittey Armah and Juliet Appiah respectively.
Great Astronomers, Afienya City and Diehard Supporters Union left the well attended event picking Special Awards.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mustapha Ahmed indicated that the competition which has been in existence since 1958 has given special meaning to football.
He pledged to work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as well as the FA Committee to develop football in the country.
Bemoaning the poor state of fields in the country, he described MTN as an indispensable partner regarding sports development in the country and pleaded with other corporate bodies to follow suit.
