CID takes over investigations into Kasoa demolition

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has taken over investigations into the alleged murder of a resident of Kojo-Oku near Kasoa by a soldier. One person was reported dead with three others sustaining injuries in clashes involving residents of the area and some military personnel, during a demolishing exercise on September 3.
The residents demanded that the “owner” of the parcel of land provided a court order permitting him to embark on the demolition. The confrontation also came about when the supposed owner of the parcel of land led a team of military men to demolish properties on the land. Some residents in an interview with Citi News accused military personnel of firing the shot that killed the deceased.
The Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Oklu in an earlier interview with Citi News also said the police were conducting investigations to unravel the actual cause of the disruptions and the killing. But the Public Relations Officer of the CID, ASP Joseph Darkwah, who confirmed the takeover by the CID  stated the move is to facilitate investigations into the matter. “We are continuing from where the regional police command reached…there is the need to conduct some pathology tests and we have to do other things, so that is exactly what we have commenced and we believe at the appropriate time we will let the public know the outcome of the issue,” he said.
