Mahama talks tough; doctors’ strike is illegal, they must go to work!
President John Mahama has directed striking doctors to go back to work because their strike over conditions of service is illegal.
“They should go back to work, government will negotiate in good faith,” he stated.
He said it was unfair for the doctors to spend months to draw up conditions of service, give that to government and demand immediate response.
Doctors in public hospitals across the country have laid down their tools to press home demands for better conditions of service. “It doesn’t make sense,” he stated. “Government can give you what it has,” he added.
The president was speaking to GBC radio on a wide range of issues; from youth, the economy, strikes, and his favourite entertainment personalities.
He said singling out the doctors and giving what they are demanding will have a cascading effect that could cause misalignments in the financial management of the country.
