Dr Amoakohene sets November deadline to clear Suame–Asonomaso corridor for road expansion

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has announced plans to clear the right-of-way along the Suame–Asonomaso Nkwanta corridor in November ahead of a proposed road expansion project.

The exercise is expected to pave the way for construction works aimed at improving traffic flow and easing persistent congestion along the busy route.

Dr Amoakohene announced the planned intervention in a Facebook post on Thursday, October 8, 2026, indicating that engagements would be held to facilitate the removal of obstructions along the corridor before the expansion project begins.

“Suame through to Asonomaso Nkwanta. We shall engage to clear the right of way to commence the road expansion project on that corridor. November,” he stated.

The proposed expansion is expected to address traffic challenges along the stretch, where motorists and other road users frequently experience delays during their daily commutes.

The planned clearance exercise will be a crucial step towards securing the space required for the road expansion.

However, details regarding the project’s scope, funding, construction timeline and arrangements for occupants who may be affected by the exercise have not yet been disclosed.

The planned intervention forms part of broader efforts to improve road infrastructure and ease transportation challenges in the Ashanti Region.
