Assemblies of God, Ghana host first-ever World Assemblies of God Congress in Africa, delegates from over 100 countries to attend

The Assemblies of God, Ghana will host the first ever World Assemblies of God Congress, scheduled to take place from 14th to 16th October 2026 in Accra under the theme, “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation”.

The global event is the first in the 115 years history of the Assemblies of God fellowship that its World Congress is taking place in Africa since the 9th Triennial Congress was held in 2023 in Madrid, Spain.

Delegates from over 100 countries are expected to converge in Accra for the event which will serve as a platform to attract thousands of tourists and investors and will boost the hospitality industry with activities such as exhibition seminars, panel discussions, workshops among others.

Addressing a news conference in Accra, the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenuson Wengam, said the world is confronted with military brutality and social calamity and is bleeding from the consequences of sin in varying degrees, hence the Christian community must intercede for the world as well as Ghana through fervent prayers.

As part of the activities to grace the occasion, he mentioned gospel artists including Joe Mettle, Sinach, Dunsin Oyekan, Rev. Angela Donadio (USA), Gramophone Chorale 500-member Congress mass choir among others.

In attendance will be the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and Her Excellency First Lady Mrs. Lordina Mahama, who are both members of the A.G. Church, eighteen Ghanaian Ministers of State and other high profiles global individuals, the Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Singapore, Rev. Dominic Yeo, H.E. Rev Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and the wife, former President of Malawi, and former General Superintendent of A.G. (Malawi).

According to him, the maiden edition of the event will serve as a clarion call for A.G. Ghana to win more souls, plant one million churches, by the year 2033, saying the MM33 target is to mark 2000 years of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, including church health, empowering the next generation and pursue greater revival.

“89.9 million members and about 451,000 local branches, Assemblies of God is currently the largest Protestant church, twenty million members are in Africa,” he said, adding that every 62 minutes an Assemblies of God church is established and every 5 seconds someone gets converted through A.G. ministry.

He added that the A.G. Ghana will forge a strategic partnership with the media and use the occasion to invite the public and the Christian community to participate in this historic event.
