The government is also owing teachers legacy arrears, according to Abraham Acheampong, Secretary of the Aggrieved Teachers of Legacy Arrears.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Mr Acheampong said the unpaid arrears, which represent outstanding backpay owed to affected teachers, are among the key reasons for the ongoing industrial action.
He said teachers have been waiting for the government to settle the outstanding payments and are demanding action to address the issue.
According to him, the affected teachers remain committed to their demand for the payment of the legacy arrears and expect the government to engage them to find a solution to the matter.
The strike has disrupted teaching and learning in some schools, with pupils affected by the absence of teachers from the classrooms.
