Antoine Semenyo nominated for Premier League Player of the Month award
Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September following another impressive run of performances for Manchester City.
The 26-year-old featured for the full 90 minutes in all five of City’s league victories during the month, contributing two goals and two assists.
Semenyo registered his first assist in City’s 1-0 victory over Coventry City, setting up Erling Haaland with a cross for the only goal of the match.
He was also instrumental in the 2-1 win over Manchester United before delivering his most productive performance of the month against Sunderland.
In City’s 5-3 victory at the Etihad Stadium, Semenyo provided an assist for Rayan Cherki before scoring twice. His display also earned him a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Matchweek award.
The winger now has three assists in the league this season and has continued to establish himself as a key attacking option for manager Pep Guardiola.
Semenyo has previously won the Premier League Player of the Month award, claiming the February prize after scoring three goals and providing one assist in five appearances.
That achievement made him the third Ghanaian to win the monthly award, following Tony Yeboah and Andre Ayew.
A second Player of the Month award would add another individual honour to what has been a strong start to Semenyo’s Manchester City career.
He faces competition from Liverpool duo Alexander Isak and Jeremy Jacquet, as well as Jayden Bogle, Mohamed Bellouni, Pascal Gross, Kevin Schade and Charalampos Kostoulas.
Semenyo was initially included in Ghana’s squad for the September international window but withdrew after suffering a swollen leg.
He will therefore miss the Black Stars’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ivory Coast and the home fixture against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 29, 2026.
